Leaving John

The left him in the river
baptizing as he had
to follow the Christ,
the living Messiah,
the fulfillment,
not of the prophesy alone
The fulfillment of the hope of a nation
the embodiment of countless prayers,
of dreams for a better tomorrow,
opening now before them.
