Quiet in the Garden

The night quiet
quiet in the garden
disciples sleeping
Jesus at a distance
praying to the Lord

Startled from my sleeping
our master there crying
even from far away
I could hear his voice
Shouting out in anguish
then whispering inaudibly
crying out to God
in obvious pain

But frozen where I was waiting
unable to move, to go to him
there is the silence of the garden
he prayed alone to God
