Little Comfort in the Scripture

Little comfort in the scriptures
except in the abstract
the real-world issues
staring us in the face
Trial in the walk on the earth
struggles just to survive
pain and anguish
seemingly without reason
no answers here and now

Wanting to understand
to believe all will work out
that God is walking with us
through the shadow of death
Holding onto our faith
in the storms of this life
only in the hereafter
to learn the meaning of life

Answering the Clay

The potter spoke
out of the whirlwind
answering the claim
rebuking his claims
the demands he dared to speak

A reminder, the distance to God
how far below
is the home of man

Walking in the dust
rather than riding the clouds
Marveling at the works
of His majestic hands
