Hating One’s Self

As Christ had to empty himself
his divinity to descend
pouring out who he was
emptying himself
becoming the vessel
the shell God used
pouring in humanness
to become the lamb

So we must empty ourselves
hating our own self
giving up the way of the world
taking up the cross instead
to be Christ’s vessel
the skin of the glove
the Spirit dwelling in us
conformed to way of the lamb
dying that we may live
