My Pastor, My Wife

Speaking words of authority
teaching us a message from God
revealed to her to share
with us, children of God

Called to be a shepherdess
to guide us, the flock
not to accept the limits
the text a stumbling block

Changing her faith tradition
to follow her savior’s call
stepping out in faith
giving us each her all

Preaching words of power
Sometimes getting a great, “Amen!”
the congregation knowing
the pastor need not be a man

My pastor, my wife
answering, “here I am”
following where she is led
giving God her all
