Spring become Winter

Silent, on the sidelines
blinded by self-interest
the story of these people
left in repression

Like so many others
nations, peoples
when we have sided with the leaders
when people wanted to be free

Through our tattered history
speaking with one voice
lauding liberty
yet guided by self-interest
when people wanted to be free
