Cellophane Bags

May we be empty
May we be transparent
living lives worthy
of our sacred calling

Cellophane bags,
radiant, transparent
vessels, empty our Lord

Our bodies, our lives
may they be gloves of his Spirit
living with him
indwelling within us

Walking in the Spirit’s guidance
the provision of God
freed from the law, our burden

The shackles of sin, our past
guided by God, the Spirit
our lives are in him
going forward

Cellophane bags,vessels
radiant, transparent
filled with the Spirit
may our lives be but the gloves.

and quote attributed to Corrie ten Bloom,
“I have a glove here in my hand.  The glove cannot do anything by itself, but when my hand is in it, it can do many things.  True, it is not the glove, but my hand in the glove that acts.  We are gloves.  It is the Holy Spirit in us who is the hand, who does the job.  We have to make room for the hand so that every finger is filled.”
