Stillness in the Chapel – v2

Bright dying sun of day
above the tree line, beyond
light still falling on the cross
calling me to come and pray

Stillness in this chapel
when the girls would quiet their talk
drawing me deeper in
where the saints had walked

Sharing a moment of reflection
in the rustic chapel of wood
the altar of rough hewn stone
just as the scripture said

Feeling the peace of that moment
washing over me, palpable
sensing the spirit of the saints
still with me, in that place
urging me to proclaim my faith
