Junk filled the vacuum – v3

A sign of the end times,
of our loss of vision
looking to ourselves
not for the kingdom

We are thankful on Thanksgiving
then we immediately forget our joy
running to the mall
to beat the next guy

We are joyful for Christmas
for the coming of Christ
but we bury the Savior
under glitter and lights

Junk filled the vacuum
when we ceased to believe
we are now out shopping
when we should be on our knees

We are lost in the season
wrapped in consumption
forgetting what is important
the things that matter

Christ at the center
the babe in the manger
love came down at Christmas
to save us completely
