Toward the least

Christ sets the bar

the measure of our life

whether we cared for them

the last, the lost, the least

Christ said we treated him

how we loved our neighbors

how we acted toward the least,

toward the others, those different

A harsh yardstick, in this land of plenty

where we don’t even believe in church

where we turn our backs on our neighbors
