Not the leaders of the people – v2

each of the characters of these dramas
the actors on the stage
sadness in their hearts
each carrying a burden
remorse, loss, regret, anger
wishing they could change the past
the course of the Passion week
to change their very lives

not the leaders of the people
stark in their absence
none of them in the plays
not changing their position
holding onto their place
each still denying the Christ
sending him to the cross
yet creating eternal life
