waiting to open, at the foot of the cross

a tulip, a metaphor
as I write the words, a comment
an image of perfection
God’s hand on our lives

a tulip, a lump of clay
on the Potter’s wheel
opening in his time
so much to reveal

waiting to open,
at the foot of the cross
our lives, frozen
alive in the vine
