We too are in the upper room
with the first disciples
all of Christ’s believers
at the Last Supper
Christ calling us together
the ancient rite we continue
with the words he uttered
speaking aloud his sacrifice
Speaking a new commandment
Christ commands us to love
to love as he loves us
to love our neighbors as
ourselves
to love sacrificially
