though some branches cut off
dead, withered,
into the fire
new branches grafted in
all in the one tree
the living people of God
Supported by the roots
the people of old
the faithfulness of the
tribes
the wayward children
chosen by God
all one tree, one body
all from the same roots,
living together
held in God’s arms
