Water – English – Science

From before our beginnings

clay in our mother’s womb

life-giving waters, smooth,

waters of life, of death,

waters sometimes killing, silent

contamination, chemicals

in ice or snow, falling

pouring cold from the heavens

dripping in a soft shower

life in giving waters

raging down the mountains

racing down the rivers

frozen, melting from ice-caps

etching ancient stone

flowing to the sea, the ocean

held within the boundaries

warm waters, touching the hot sand

giant waves eroding the beach where we stand

smoothing my feet, tiny grains of stone

feeding my soul, silent

the tides controlling, water sliding back and forth

a small drop, a basin, gathered together
