so quick my temper
the rage flushes my
cheeks
when I want revenge
when the words send me
to a dark place, to
strike back
not turning the other
cheek
forgetting these words of
Christ
wanting to exact my own
judgment
not following his
instruction
forgetting the choices he
made
when I spit in his face
when I denied Christ
and went my own way
how he did not strike
back
how he opened his arms
and gave his all, for me
