the precious nard – v2

now the cracked vessels
holding the precious oil
the perfume, fragrant
the Spirit indwelling
the blood of Christ
the light of God
filling our earthen vessels
clay bottles to be broken
to proclaim the Christ

the precious nard, the balm
the blood of the Lamb
the ointment, anointing
healing the world
His love, His offering
His bread within us
the blood of our Savior
poured out, a blessing
upon the whole world

we become the vessels
earthen jars only
chipped, emptied
poured out, in witness
to the love of Christ
the grace that saves us
the balm for the ages
holding the oil ready
to share the Christ

the precious nard, the balm
the blood of the Lamb
the ointment anointing
healing the world
our brokenness mended
ours merely the vessels
emptied, readied
filled by the Spirit
to be filled, to be emptied
Christ’s light for the world
