about six o’clock in the morning – v2

about six o’clock in the morning – v2

about six o’clock in the morning
on a night that knew no sleep
standing in the dock of judgment
before Caesar’s representative
Christ accused of blasphemy, of sedition,
of claiming He was God
when He was a man
How that must have felt,
for His mother, for Mary;
Hearing her own people
shouting, “Crucify Him!”

after a night that knew no sleep
by eight o’clock in the morning
Christ had been judged, beaten,
scourged by the Romans
now He was back
standing before Caesar
the King of the Jews
a bloody mess;
but no pity from them.
Hate from the mob
when they shouted, Crucify!”,
and sent Him to the cross.
