as Christ was taken away – v4

with Jesus and the disciples
in the garden that night
on the Mount of Olives
as Christ was taken away.
only Judas remained
when Christ was captured.

in an instant, in a moment,
the disciples scattered
after Malchus’ ear was healed;
they all ran into the night.
only Judas remained
of the twelve disciples.

when the guards chained Him
as they beat him
only Judas remained
as Christ was taken away
for the journey through
the Kidron Valley, into Jerusalem.

dragging Christ in chains,
the Messiah captured,
back into David’s city;
but not like Palm Sunday
another entrance into Jerusalem
through a very different gate.
