The Rough Hewn Cross – v6

The rough hewn cross,
benches for the congregation,
some of them now dead, spirits;
Ashes of the faithful
lying at our feet.

The granite pieces
part of our land
this place, home;
Serving as Your altar
before Your rugged cross.

Standing in the pulpit
imaging the many parishioners
whose spirits yet remain;
Those who had come to this sanctuary
saints who have gone before.
