Not like the rich man,
his wealth was not the issue,
not his treasure, his possessions
that created his distance from God.
Pride in his piety, his certainty
his holiness itself, the wall, the stumbling block
leading him to question the Creator
the justice of God.
God’s response to the human before Him
a perspective made clear
that was far beyond him.
Our place in the order
in God’s plan for the universe
by reverence, repentance only
we are made right before God.
