a xenophobic cancer – v3

Far more than simply isolationist

or even mere racism, hatred, anger,

a virulent strain of poison

exposed in the body politic

in the words he is speaking

A heavy-handed calling to fear

to the divisions of our people

to the darkest elements of our nature

an anger being cultivated, being fed,

being nurtured in the maelstrom

Our time of reckoning will arrive

the reaping of the whirlwind

when the monster has reached full flowering

a xenophobic cancer metastasized

fed by the bile within their words

Written onto memory

floating in the air, on the ether,

the words of fear, of anger,

a xenophobic cancer growing

spreading everywhere
