Immersed – v3

I became enthralled, engrossed,
immersed in the imagery, melting,
drinking in the brush strokes
the shimmering water
the true depth of feeling
in the giant panels
sitting in the room
of the art gallery

Not merely seeing, no more than that,
experiencing is what I mean
more still, focused
absorbing it into my being
being with the brushstrokes
feeling his passion, the murmur,
the whisper of the Creator,
as he painted it so long before
in his home in France

The culmination of his art
so able to capture more than a mood
the totality of what is to be
explored, plumbed,
the depth of the water
the skin of the water
water lilies, surrounding
filling the enormous canvas
