In slivers of discrete color – v3

Trying to describe
how I saw the world,
how I embraced the colors,
the shades of gray within each argument,
how I argued as an attorney
not in a continuum, a spectrum,
but one wavelength at a time.

Not a monochrome, stagnant,
only in black and white, not really,
nothing so stark in dividing the light;
there is a spectrum, I acknowledge,
a range of bright colors to choose from,
but for me not blending, changing
arguing one sliver of light at a time.

I saw definite lines,
without ambiguity, arguments
able to grasp ahold, tenaciously,
to argue for a single line, one shade,
as a spoke on a bicycle wheel
in slivers of discrete color
one wavelength at a time.

Not fuzzy lines morphing
one to another, shades of gray, blending;
a method, a path, choosing,
one or the other, plaintiff or defendant,
able to argue, to advocate,
holding onto one thin sliver,
one shade of color at a time.
