not to the manger but to the cross

 

the journey of Lent, unlike Advent,

not to the manger but to the cross

anticipation, a path we follow,

to the sacrifice of Jesus

His death for our sins

a descent to dying

at the place of the skull,

to fulfill the law, the prophets,

the widening shadows, humiliation,

the cost to God for our transgressions

the journey of Lent, anticipation, unfolding

leading to the blessed Easter Sunday morning
