Metal Doors

A singular sound,
a permanency, masculine certainty,
sudden heavy, final, unrelenting
the sound of authority, no free will
no choices any longer
submitting utterly to other wills
regimented steps, directed steps
in halting passage from point to point
Punctuated by the sound of
heavy metal doors
barring your path
sealed behind you, before you
