One by one, lovingly,
Reverently, they came,
out of storage, out of their cocoons,
their safety, to be placed
ever so carefully on the tree
One by one, retelling their stories
of what life was like when they were bought
given, received, shared in the family
among treasured friends,
lovingly sharing the stories
the memories of Christmases past
and in the knowing that they would
be remembered in the future
from the telling,
the remembering
