Many hands raised in the hall
voices raised to the ceiling, the heavens
each one a voice of discernment
of varying visions of will,
whether God’s or Ours,
time will tell
Do we downsize,
live within the means we have
the bread in the cupboard
the food in the larder,
counted and checked
Or do we believe in a bigger
a more abundant pantry
being filled and refilled
as time and need grows
Do we trust in the
give us this day our daily bread
or do we believe that stewardship
requires husbanding the resources
we have today
for the lean times to come
Have we had the seven years of feast
and we now face the years of famine
or have we sat idly by
and missed a greater harvest
in the fallow fields?
This was the challenge we faced
in prayer and in fellowship yesterday
We chose to hope, to have faith
that God will provide
that the coffers will be filled
and the work done
with the team we have
and our feet and hands
