Equally Needing This Grace

No one special, none meriting
a place at the table for all
all, all humankind,
from the first disciple,
the living saints among us
equally needing this grace
this gift, this offering
his body, this bread
his blood, this cup
an awful price
paid so we could be free
so that we could go home
to see our father’s face
once more, for the first time
