The Familiar Words

The familiar words, the law,
the commandments of God
new this reading, that they were all spoken
words from the mouth of God
spoken aloud to his servant
so that he might hear them, their power
the voice of God proclaiming
the shall and the shall not
the words of his law spoken first
from the mouth of God to his servant
from his mouth to the people
down through the generations
