Grapes

See the children, singing in sanctuary
laughing, running in the church
they are the grapes, the fruit of the vine
ones for whom we are all called to be branches
We are to be connected,
a living, growing, vibrant vine
each of us branches, each of us fruits too
the fruit of other older branches,
all connected in community
each growing stronger together, the living vine
and the intertwined, supporting branches
the fruits of the vine,
not merely of individual branches
fruits of the whole community, the living vine
