Spending on our Wants

Focused on the here and now
forgetting what we need
spending on our wants alone
an immediate itch to calm

Losing sight of our savior’s call
a simpler way of life
humbly serving our fellow man
being his feet, his hands

Open to what will last
turning from the world’s commands
loving God and our neighbors
offering them a helping hand
