Moments of Epiphany

In the story, the telling
the coming of the Christ
the coming of the Magi
More too, moments of epiphany
awareness, instant awakening
a realization, amazing things
all happening, as God had planned
as had been foretold

The quickening of life
John leaping inside of Elizabeth
while Christ was yet unborn
understanding the meaning
when Mary approached her kin

Zechariah speaking
in the naming of John
a prophecy of witness
preparing the way of the Lord

Herod, afraid, responding to the Magi
with a question, dripping with epiphany
knowing that the babe, the child born
the son, under the natal star
the Messiah, as had been foretold

Mary gathering in
all that was happening
so much more of the story
yet to unfold

The Magi themselves
epiphany, that moment
gifts for the Christ
gold, frankincense, and myrrh
his life all laid out
