His Glory Plain

His glory plain
shining upon his face
Christ changed
from the man he was
claimed as God’s own son

There on the mountaintop
lit by God’s glory
the new Moses
leading the people to freedom
out of our bondage to sin

In the days to come
after the transfiguration
teaching his message of love
inexorably leading

To the confrontation
the sacrifice
God going to the cross for us
to redeem us, to fill us with his glory

His light shining,
his spirit living
going with us
shining inside of you and me
