This New Covenant

Not with the blood of animal sacrifice
not written on the lintels, on the doorposts
on the frames of the gates, on our houses
The blood of the lamb, the son of God
offered as sacrifice, pure, unblemished
his body broken, as with the loaf
his blood poured out, as with the wine
this holy priest, of David’s line
the root of Jesse, the new Moses
offering himself on the altar of the cross
a new covenant, written in the blood of God
