The people, whipped up by the leaders
shouting for his blood
that he would be crucified
Choosing Barabbas
offering revolution
not the Christ
teaching about love
Human passions
the cries of the oppressed
that their shackles would be shaken
that the prisoners would be free
Not on God’s timescale
wanting freedom now
The crowd, the mob
calling for Barabbas
rejecting God’s love
once again, instead
choosing the way of the world
