A rare jewel
priceless, yet fragile
in the crucible of our hands
hanging in the balance
Failing to see
the wonder of nature
the sword of Damocles
held by a thread
Arrogantly we use
rather than cherish
the world and all there is
as if always to exist
Forgetting our charge
our commission to tend
to care for the garden ever
so the generations that follow
may have a better world
that we ourselves were given
at the beginning of our days
