Speaking Directly to Us

Not in the words we read
the lessons we try to apply
experience in this life
what has been passed down

Only in that moment
when we hear our savior’s call
speaking directly to us
out on the dusty road

Changing our lives utterly
the Spirit dwelling within
turning our lives over to him
becoming part of the family

Giving our lives over
following the disciple’s path
going where we are sent
heeding our master’s call

“Abundant God, we thank you for the jars of our lives
that are constantly being filled. We offer our gifts to you,
that others may know of your abundance and grace.
Fill the hungry with good things. Lift up the oppressed.
Watch over the stranger and comfort the lonely.
Through our gifts, may we do likewise.
In the name of Christ the Comforter, we pray. Amen”
