What They Must Have Said

The grieving mother
her child dead
walking to the funeral
in sadness and loss

The Messiah coming
seeing the funeral march
going to them
offering a word of comfort

Laying his hands on the bier
the child returning to life
what they must have said
when their sadness turned to joy
