Our Trust Misplaced

Would that we were like the rich man
at the end of our days
sitting pitiful in our finery
surrounded by our worldly goods
sitting crying in Sheol
the place of the dead
longing for the place in heaven
finding ourselves in hell instead

Our trust misplaced
if we trust in the world
treasures built up in this life
not in those that endure
pray that we will wake up
turn from our false path
seeking to come close to God
the path of the cross instead
