Like the farmers gathering stones
cleaning the fields, making them ready
for the planting, the sowing
the tending of the garden
the harvest in its season
The stones gathered
each with a purpose
a place in the wall
a place to belong
fitted to its neighbor
making the whole stronger
all part of the wall
fitted together
one stone to another
making the whole
