Filled with Grief

Not wanting to believe
wanting him with them
when he told them of his suffering
that he must die

So human their response
their shepherd, their brother
the teacher of the truth
the son of the living God

Filled with grief
we with the disciples
the awesome truth
of his suffering for us

God choosing death
that we would live
offering himself
how much more we should give
