Tasting the Spice

The salt of the earth
the song of our Savior
light to the world
a witness of love

Tasting the spice
the calling of our maker
to be the salt of the earth
his witness in the world

None of us special
common and authentic
made of the clay
the stuff of the earth

Our calling to be true
authentic in our speaking
our living out the calling
made to one and all

To be a light to the world
the beacon in the darkness
carrying the light
from our static place

To bear his light
into the darkness
cleansing hearts
with the balm of his word
