Choosing Our Friends

In the mirror of time
the prism of justice
the sun shining upon us
cutting through the darkness
oppression and silence
giving way
to freedom and colors
washing over these lands
a sandstorm of time

Choosing our friends
the dictators or the martyrs
the people yearning to breathe free
from the yoke of oppression
the prisoners calling for freedom
from the chains of the tyrants
wanting to be free
History will judge
how soon we joined the people
calling for their freedom
acting to assist them
to have their human rights
