Having left the foreign country

Rising from the pen
away from the pigs
convicted of our sin
wanting to live

In the pit of that moment
aware of our grief
wanting to head home
struggling with our belief

Having left the foreign country
wanting to go home
sad in the pain we have caused
to our Father, our Lord

Fear on this journey
certainly not yet arrived
yearning to truly live
because our Savior died.

"There is a season between repentance and rebirth, between the old life and the new. There is a kind of mud season in which we have become newly honest about our faults, wounds and struggles. We are exposed and vulnerable, and not yet comfortable with a new way of living. We are unrecognizable as our old selves, but not yet fully formed as new ones."
