Riding on that Donkey

Little did they know
those singing Hosanna!
alive in their joy
seeing the living King

The Messiah foretold
fulfilling all scripture
yet not understanding
the nature of this King

Riding on that donkey
the living God come down
the lamb who would climb
the cross and not a throne

Suffering and dying
that we may live
by grace choosing
the way of suffering
