In a More Perfect World – 3

We would rise up
we would speak truth to power
we would not hesitate
thinking about the others
Our hearts open
standing in their shoes
we would rise as one
crying with them
for their freedom
from foe and friend alike
standing with the people
crying in the street

yearning to breathe free
and not worrying about the results,
that it is always right to stand for basic human rights

all the protests in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Syria,
Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Djibouti, Mauritania, Senegal, etc.
and
especially the resignation of Hosni Mubarak

versus the bloodshed in Bahrain and Libya, etc.

in a news conference that when history books tell it
we will be seen as being on the right side of history
