God can see you

A child on a burning roof
at night, in fear, trembling
crying out for safety
for their parents’ comfort
The parent crying out,
“Jump! I will catch you.”
But the child cannot see;
but the parent says, “I can see you.”

So we are with God,
failing to believe, to see
knowing what we are to do
whether to take the leap of faith
But God can see you
trembling, in the dark
wanting to hold you tight
to wipe away your tears

Oh, that we would each have
Faith enough, sufficient
to jump into the darkness
to trust our Father
will be there to catch,
to lift us, high above our present
to a bright and clear future
to boldly go in faith
following our Master
