Imperfect Idols

Setting up our neighbors
those just like us
seeking their praises
when they are dust
Imperfect idols
not worthy of acceptance
our attention
needing to focus
on the treasure that lasts

They, like us,
imperfect vessels
prone to chip
to break, to rust
If we seek them
praises here on earth
becoming empty
becoming broken
poured out of love
