Their blood upon his hands

his face bloody, his movement halting
his hand rising
to wipe the blood away
confused, perplexed
on his dying day
Not understanding
the blood there upon his hands
their blood, the martyrs
the people of his land
Staying too long
holding onto power
the blood of his nation
in his final hours
